With Dietrich Version 26.3, we’re delivering the next update that focuses on what really matters in day-to-day work. Even our smaller releases are guided by the same principle: to provide our customers with tools that make a tangible difference.
For us, it’s not about putting new technology or AI in the spotlight just for the sake of it. What matters is what it does for you: simplifying workflows, reducing waiting times, making projects more manageable and presenting results more convincingly. In short: the technology is there to take the pressure off you, so you can focus on what makes your craft special.
Because that is precisely what matters to us: honouring the craft, safeguarding its quality and, at the same time, adapting it to the modern world in the best possible way. Dietrich’s 26.3 combines tried-and-tested working methods with modern technology – wherever it creates genuine added value.
Processing point clouds of any size
Point clouds have become an indispensable part of many projects. They provide a precise basis for surveys, refurbishments and complex planning tasks. At the same time, they often involve enormous volumes of data. Until now, this could quickly become a challenge: large files would put a strain on RAM, slow down the computer or prove impossible to process reliably.
With Dietrich’s V27, working with large point clouds becomes much more straightforward. Point clouds can now be converted into an optimised ooc structure. This removes a previously fundamental limitation: the size of the point cloud is no longer restricted by the amount of RAM.
For you, this means greater reliability and more freedom in your day-to-day project work. Even extensive point clouds can be imported, filtered and further processed via the Clipbox. This is particularly valuable when real-world building data needs to form the basis of planning with a high degree of accuracy.
Conversion to the optimised structure only takes place when necessary. With very large files, this process may take some time. Once complete, however, the point cloud will be available to you as usual for further processing.
Your added value: You can utilise larger and more complex as-built data without unnecessarily restricting your workflow. This creates a better foundation for precise planning, reduces detours and supports you particularly in challenging as-built projects.
Greater control over orthophotos
Orthophotos are an important tool when it comes to turning point clouds into usable planning data. At the same time, calculating them can be time-consuming – particularly when there are several orthophotos in a project or when changes are made to the point cloud.
Dietrich’s V27 gives you greater control here. When linking to a point cloud, the automatic recalculation of orthophotos can now be specifically disabled. Instead of having to trigger the process immediately, you can decide for yourself when the right time is.
In addition, a dedicated function for recalculating orthophotos is available. This allows you to deliberately schedule this step into your workflow, for example once the actual model editing has been completed or when the computer is not currently needed for other tasks.
There have also been improvements to the display and hiding of the point cloud. The display can now be controlled independently within the ‘Roof’ model area. This provides a clearer overview and makes working on complex projects more pleasant.
The benefit to you: you retain control over computationally intensive steps and can better manage your workflow. This saves time, reduces interruptions and ensures that orthophotos are updated exactly when it makes sense for your project.
D-AI Visualisation: Turning technical diagrams into compelling images
Good planning deserves a strong presentation. Especially during the tender phase, an appealing visual can make all the difference: it helps clients to better visualise the planned building, experience its atmosphere and make decisions more easily.
With the new D-AI visualisation tool, subscription customers can generate an appealing visualisation directly from the model with just a few clicks. The technical rendering serves as the basis, whilst the AI assists with creating an atmospheric presentation.
The approach is deliberately kept simple. You don’t need to spend time modelling the surroundings, set up lighting in detail or formulate complicated text inputs. The selection is made using clear parameters: surroundings, time of day and style. This produces realistic depictions, renderings, sketches, watercolours or pencil drawings – depending on the effect you wish to achieve.
The benefit for you: with minimal effort, you gain compelling images for quotations, client meetings and presentations. This saves time compared to specialised visualisation programmes or external service providers and helps you make your planning more emotionally tangible.
Smaller project files, faster saving
Large project files take time – when saving, during automatic backups, when sending and when archiving. Orthophotos and textured images in views and sections, in particular, have previously been known to significantly increase file sizes.
In Dietrich’s V27, the image format has been optimised. This significantly reduces the storage requirements for this content. This affects not only the building itself, but also drawing files and plans. In many cases, the optimisation therefore results in multiple reductions in project size.
A real-world example illustrates the scale of the improvement: elevations were reduced from around 450 MB to 150 MB, and orthophotos from around 503 MB to 136 MB. Repeated saving and auto-backup also benefit significantly from this.
The first time you save, the optimisation may take a little extra time as the images are converted to the new format. After that, working becomes noticeably smoother. Smaller files are easier to share, simpler to archive and quicker to back up.
The benefits for you: projects become more manageable. You save time when saving files, reduce waiting times during automatic backups and simplify sharing with colleagues or project partners. Particularly with large projects, this brings significantly more peace of mind and efficiency to your day-to-day work.
Modern technology that supports the craft
Dietrich’s 26.3 brings improvements that take the strain off in key areas: processing larger volumes of data more securely, managing orthophotos more effectively, significantly reducing the size of project files, and presenting buildings convincingly with AI support.
The focus is not on the technology itself, but on the benefits for you. Every improvement is designed to help you work more efficiently, quickly and comfortably – enhancing your experience, not replacing it. Making the craftsmanship visible, not obscuring it.
With Dietrich’s 26.3, we are continuing along this path with determination: proven quality, modern tools and a clear focus on what you achieve every day.
We look forward to making the update available to you – and are excited to see what projects you will bring to life with it.
